Switch Social Squad

Celebrating Individuality & Supporting Neurodiversity Through Gaming!

A fun, safe, and inclusive space for teens who love playing Nintendo Switch games to hang out, make friends, and level up their social skills. We provide a supportive environment where you can connect with other neurodiverse teens who share your passion for gaming.

What is the Switch Social Squad about?

  • Connecting with fellow gamers: Meet new friends, chat about your favorite games, and build meaningful relationships.
  • Expressing yourself freely: Feel comfortable being yourself in a shame-free, pressure-free, and judgment-free zone.
  • Develop social skills with fun: Learn and practice communication, teamwork, and collaboration while playing your favorite games.
  • Safe and supervised environment: Our speech pathologists ensure everyone feels comfortable and has a positive experience.

Talkshop currently offers this group in our Ashfield Clinic Location.

Who is it for?

  • Teens (13-15) who love playing Nintendo Switch games and want to connect with others who share their passion.
  • Neurodiverse teens who enjoy video games and are looking for a supportive social group.

What does it look like?

Our Switch Social Squad runs weekly in our Ashfield Clinic on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5pm. Each week, the group decides on 2-3 games to play together, with a mix of competitive and co-op games. The group has discussions about what games to play, different strategies and how to make sure everyone is having fun. Some games we’ve played before include Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros., Castle Crashers and Boomerang Fu. This group provides opportunities to learn new games and make recommendations, as well as develop negotiation and leadership skills.

  • Held in the big group room at our Ashfield clinic, set up with a Nintendo Switch and TV system
