Speech Therapy for Kids

Our FREE Discovery Session is ideal for anyone with any questions relating to speech, stuttering, language, literacy, social skills, swallowing, and voice.

This is an opportunity for us to give some information on how to monitor your concern and give you advice on how to start self-managing any issues immediately.

Discovery Sessions can help you understand if an assessment or therapy is needed, how Speech Therapy would work, and if appropriate, help you book in.

Talkshop Speech Pathology believe that every child deserves the opportunity to communicate in ways that feel authentic and meaningful to them. Through speech therapy for kids, we support children in developing the communication skills they need to connect with others, express their thoughts and feelings, and participate confidently in everyday life. Communication is more than words, it’s about connection and confidence.

Talkshop’s approach is grounded in neurodiversity-affirming principles, recognising and celebrating each child’s unique way of communicating. Rather than trying to change who your child is, we focus on supporting their strengths and helping them communicate in ways that feel natural and empowering. In our warm, play-based environment, we value every form of communication, including spoken language, signs, gestures, and AAC. Whether your child is working on speech clarity, language development, or authentic social communication, our speech pathologists work alongside children and families to build confidence, independence, meaningful connections, and lifelong communication skills at every stage of development.

Child Feeding & Swallowing problems

Mealtimes can be challenging for some children experiencing physical swallowing difficulties or sensory-based feeding differences. Gentle, responsive speech therapy for kids supports safer, more comfortable, and positive eating experiences while respecting each child’s individual needs, preferences, and pace. Working alongside families, our speech pathologists build feeding skills, support positive mealtimes, and encourage confidence with food.

Stuttering Therapy

Every child’s voice deserves to be heard. Evidence-based speech therapy for kids helps children who stutter develop confidence, communication strategies, and positive speaking experiences without focusing on fluency as the only measure of success. Along the way, our speech pathologists partner with families to create supportive communication environments where children feel heard, respected, and empowered to express themselves.

Speech Disorders & Speech delays

Being understood can make everyday communication easier for children. Personalised speech therapy for kids uses evidence-based, child-centred approaches to support clearer speech while building confidence and functional communication skills. Working collaboratively with families, we tailor therapy to each child’s strengths, goals, and communication journey.

Language delay

Children develop language at their own pace. Through engaging, play-based speech therapy for kids, we nurture vocabulary growth, support sentence development, strengthen language understanding, and encourage children to express their thoughts, ideas, and needs. Sessions are tailored to each child’s strengths, interests, and communication style, creating meaningful opportunities to learn through play and everyday interactions. As communication grows, children build confidence while connecting with the people around them.

Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS)

Planning the movements needed for speech can be challenging for some children. Specialised, motor-based speech therapy for kids uses evidence-based approaches to strengthen speech planning and coordination while improving speech clarity and consistency. Every therapy program is personalised to help children develop practical communication skills that support participation in everyday life.

Literacy Difficulties

Learning to read, spell, and write looks different for every child. Evidence-based strengthens the foundational literacy skills that support learning, including phonological awareness, decoding, spelling, reading comprehension, and written expression. By building on each child’s strengths, therapy fosters confidence, independence, and a positive relationship with literacy. Sessions are personalised to each child’s learning profile, interests, and goals, making literacy development engaging and meaningful.

Phonological Awareness

Strong literacy skills begin with an awareness of speech sounds. Engaging speech therapy for kids uses evidence-based, play-based activities to help children identify, recognise, and manipulate the sounds within words. These foundational phonological awareness skills provide an important bridge to reading, spelling, and writing development. Therapy is tailored to each child’s strengths, interests, and learning style, creating enjoyable opportunities to build confidence through meaningful activities.

Lisp

Clearer speech can help children communicate with greater confidence. Individualised speech therapy for kids supports accurate speech sound development using evidence-based, child-centred approaches that are engaging and meaningful. Over time, children build speech clarity and develop communication skills that transfer into everyday interactions. Therapy is tailored to each child’s strengths, interests, and communication goals, creating enjoyable opportunities to practise new skills in meaningful ways.

Speech Pathology for Autism

Every child communicates in their own unique way. Neurodiversity-affirming speech therapy for kids celebrates those differences by supporting authentic communication, self-advocacy, social understanding, and meaningful participation without encouraging masking. We value all forms of communication, including spoken language, gestures, sign, and AAC, while partnering with families to build confidence across home, school, and community environments.

Social Skills Development

Social communication is about building meaningful relationships, not following rigid social rules. Neurodiversity-affirming speech therapy for kids supports self-awareness, perspective-taking, flexible communication, and self-advocacy while respecting every child’s unique communication style. Rather than encouraging masking, therapy empowers children to develop genuine connections in ways that feel authentic to them.

School Readiness

Beginning school is an exciting milestone for children and families. Personalised speech therapy for kids helps children develop the communication, language, listening, and self-advocacy skills that support confident participation in the classroom. Throughout the transition, we work alongside families to build independence, encourage meaningful participation, and help children feel ready for their school journey.

Teenage Language Disorder

This speech therapy service for adolescents is designed for teenagers who experience challenges with understanding and using language throughout the high school years. Speech therapy is tailored to strengthen higher-level communication skills, including understanding abstract concepts, interpreting figurative language, organising ideas, expanding vocabulary, improving reading comprehension and written expression, and using language effectively in both social and academic settings.

Talkshop Speech Pathology don’t just “teach” skills; we celebrate the way your child’s mind works. By following their lead and validating their experiences, we help them thrive as exactly who they are. We recognise that every developmental path is unique and deserves to be respected. Our approach prioritises genuine connection and autonomy over standard compliance. Together, we build a foundation where your child feels safe, seen, and empowered to communicate with confidence.
