What is a Talkshop Snapshot?

At Talkshop we specialise in providing dynamic, play-based unforgettable therapy experiences. We want to support our in-coming clinicians thrive in their first jobs by partnering with a trained clinician for a day for a fully hands-on experience.

A new graduate observation gives you the opportunity to experience a day in the life of a speech pathologist. You will attend a morning team meeting and shadow a speech pathologist in their clinical sessions. You will learn how clinicians prep on the go, how to prioritise therapy goals and observe how to maximise efficiency in the real world of clinical practice.

During clinical sessions you will have the opportunity to observe and engage in therapy sessions as appropriate for each client. You will be able to observe and discuss clinical reasoning decisions, problem solving and sensory and behavior strategies being expertly used within sessions. You will have opportunities to debrief with clinicians to learn the ‘why’ along with seeing the ‘how’ in action. Discover and develop your own dynamic self.

Who is this for?

● Students in their final year of their speech pathology degree

● New graduate speech pathologists

What will you need?

● A current Working with Children Check

● A current National Police Check

What does this look like:

The snapshot day takes roughly 4 hours and is available at our discretion. Students will shadow a clinician’s clinical sessions. Time will be allocated to discuss clinical questions throughout the day.

1. Participate in our daily huddle
2. Observe sessions with a variety of clients. Depending on the client, you may even be asked to join in for a game or two!
3. Ask any questions you have about working in a private practice
4. Join our friendly team for lunch
