I’m Sarah and I love working with our paediatric, adolescent and young adult clients, developing any and all aspects of communication including; speech, language, literacy, fluency and social skills.
I am passionate about the power of speech pathology to dramatically improve a person’s ability to communicate, empowering them towards a more successful future. I am driven by a strong desire to see others thrive as well as a love of fun! I was first attracted to this profession in 2011 when I first saw the hugely positive effect it had on children I was volunteering with. Since then, my love for speech pathology has grown.
I aim to create a positive learning environment in each of my sessions and make each of the individuals and families I work with feel valued. I love building relationships and getting alongside my clients, to ensure that their therapy is functional for their everyday context.
I love watching our child and adult clients flourish as they increase their communication skills. I also love learning myself by continuing to partake in professional development to ensure I continue to deliver high-quality therapy, using the best available evidence. A highlight this year has been seeing how strategies learned from attending a specialist literacy course at Macquarie Uni’s Reading Clinic can successfully accelerate literacy skills. As one of my favourite authors (Dr Seuss) wrote: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go!”
